Lesson 1:

Heart & Fitness Activity

Get ready to embark on an exciting journey that will get your heart pumping and your students engaged! At this station, students will participate in a series of dynamic activities designed to elevate their heart rate. After each activity, they will measure their pulse and document the data, transforming a simple workout into a fascinating scientific exploration. It’s a fantastic way to combine fitness with learning, making it a memorable and educational experience for everyone involved!

Lesson 2:

Sound Activity

Dive into the fascinating world of sound waves and vibrations with this hands-on activity! Students will create their very own harmonicas, providing a tangible way to understand that sound is the energy produced by vibration. Through this creative process, they will discover how vibrations travel through the air and into our ears. By making their harmonicas, students will see firsthand how sound is generated and transmitted, and they’ll experience the magic of turning simple vibrations into recognizable sounds.

Lesson 3:

Light Activity

Illuminate your students’ curiosity with our captivating Light Activity at the roller rink! Students will embark on a series of hands-on experiments to explore how light interacts with different materials. They’ll discover whether light reflects or absorbs, and they’ll even get to experience the magic of making a penny disappear using refraction.
This activity not only brings the fascinating world of light and optics to life but also encourages critical thinking and scientific exploration. By conducting these engaging experiments, students will gain a deeper understanding of light behavior and optical illusions.

Lesson 1:

Center of Mass Challenge

Get ready to put your students’ understanding of physics to the test with the exciting Center of Mass Challenge! In this activity, students will face four intriguing challenges that involve discovering the center of mass using their own bodies. Each challenge comes with step-by-step directions, guiding them to see if they can “beat” the physical tasks while grasping the concept of the center of mass.

Lesson 2:

Force and Motion

Transform your roller rink visit into a dynamic learning experience with our Force & Motion Activity! Each student or small group will be equipped with a skate to dive into a hands-on investigation of how different surfaces affect movement. Students will measure and predict the differences in force and motion when pushing a skate on carpet versus the roller skating floor.
This activity not only brings key physics concepts to life but also encourages critical thinking and scientific inquiry. As students experiment and observe the variations in motion, they’ll gain a deeper understanding of force, friction, and the principles of motion. It’s an exciting, interactive way to engage students in the wonders of physics, making learning both fun and impactful!

Lesson 3:

Engineering

Step into the shoes of an engineer at our exciting field trip to the roller rink! In this hands-on Engineering Activity, each student will be given supplies to build their very own catapult. But the fun doesn’t stop there—students will then be challenged to modify their catapults to see how design changes can launch objects even further.
This activity not only introduces students to the world of engineering but also fosters creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. They’ll experience the thrill of designing, building, and iterating their creations, all while learning key engineering principles. It’s an engaging, interactive adventure that makes STEM learning unforgettable and incredibly fun!
